The latest version contains a host of new features designed to make Magic List Pro the most powerful ColdFusion-based mailing list application available, period. One of these, and perhaps the most requested feature over the last few years, is the ability to create your own custom questions. All previous versions had a set group of 23 questions, and that was it. Now you can create as many additional questions as you want, and they all behave in the very same way, even being able to view them in the demographics reports.
In the past you had only two ways to target messages: send it to all list members or you could choose individual members from a list (which could be a problem if you had several thousand members). Now you can target your messages in two additional ways: by demographic information or by Interest Group. Demographic targeting is perhaps the most powerful marketing tool you can have for your mailings. If you get your message to the right people, it will have a much larger impact. Now, if you want to send a message to all men between the ages of 30 and 39, you can do just that.

Targeting using Interest Group is another excellent way get the right information to the right people. You now have the ability to create sublists within each list that allow your members to select the type of information they would receive. For this site, for example, we have only one list with an Interest Group for each of our products. If you wanted to get information only about Magic List Pro, you would simply select that Interest.
Of course the core feature of Magic List Pro is the ability to send HTML messages in addition to plain text. This allows you to create and send vivid, compelling messages that grab the recipients attention and get them back to your site again and again. You may use the built-in HTML editor to create your messages, or use an external one and just cut and paste your message. You can also upload the message from your home computer or from a web site. Preview your message in both HTML and plain text, and then send it off to the members of your list.

Two new features allow you to keep tabs on how well the messages you send are working. You now can track when a recipient opens the message. This allows you to see if the messages you create are being opened, or are just finding their way to the deleted items folder. If you find this is the case, maybe you should make changes to your mailing. This can be a powerful aid to your email marketing campaign. This statistic is logged by member, so only one open per member is tracked, and will only work for HTML messages.
If you want to include links back to your site in your mailing, you can now track these as well. You simply turn on the Click-Thru Tracking feature and the application automatically generates the code for each link in your message (HTML messages only). If you want to see how much interest there is for something in your mailing, this will show you quickly and easily.

Additional new features include the ability to add an unlimited number of attachments to each mailing. These are logged and stored by the application for future use. You can also give users access to the application on a list by list basis in addition to restricting them to certain areas. If you want to have a moderator manage a list for you, they will not be able to access any other lists. Also, you now can confirm members email addresses prior to having them as active members. You can also receive a notification when someone joins your lists. We have also added the ability to move and duplicate members of your lists. Both of these features can be very useful when creating new lists or consolidating existing lists.
Of course all of the existing features are still there, some of which have been improved: the ability to have multiple lists, import and export member lists, save messages as templates for later use, having custom subject line messages, sent messages are stored in the list archive, a built-in join form generator and much, much more.

Members still have complete control over their subscription from the Control Center. They can change their email address, password, choose the type of messages they want to receive, as well as update any personal information they submitted or list Interest Groups they selected when they joined your list. They can also unsubscribe from your lists at any time. They may view the list archive and if you allow it, access the email addresses of the other members of the list.
