 Anti-Spam Features For Magic Book v2.5
The internet was a much better place before Spam arrived, but it looks as though it is here to stay. And it's not just the stuff to fill up your inbox either, as anyone with a guest book can tell you. In a matter of seconds a Spammer can post hundreds or even thousands of bogus, often X rated, entries to your guest book and you get stuck with cleaning up the mess.

With the latest release of Magic Book Professional we have taken a few steps to limit the amount of Spam your guest book will receive and also make it easier for you to get rid of it when you do get some. The first addition is the Approve Posts feature where you can require each new post to be approved before it can be seen by your sites visitors. If the entry is Spam, a simple click and it is gone.

The second addition is even simpler, but will put a stop to the worst Spammers out there. These are the guys that don't even load your guest book to do their dirty work, but simply send form data that then gets posted. These guys can send hundreds of posts per second and can jam your guest book so full it would take an hour to clean. Well, no longer, since there is now a check preformed to insure that only form data sent from your guest book will be allowed to be posted.

While both of these will help reduce the amount of Spam you get, nothing we can do will stop it completely. We have just made it harder for the Spammer and maybe he will lose interest in your guest book and move elsewhere. Magic Poll Personal, our most popular application by a wide margin, has just been updated and the new version released on our site. Loaded with new features and a new admin interface, we think it's the best version yet and are looking forward to its continued success!

Like its big brother, Magic Poll Professional, the new version now has the ability to have an unlimited number of questions. We have also expanded the database options to include Microsoft SQL Server in addition to MySQL and Access.
